Dr. Si Qin is a Principal Research Manager in the Data, Knowledge, and Intelligence (DKI) area of Microsoft AI, where he leads research and applied science efforts focused on large language models (LLMs) and AI agents. Prior to this role, he was a Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research Asia, where he dedicated his work to advancing AI for IT Operations (AIOps). Before joining Microsoft, Dr. Qin worked on speech signal processing at Sogou and Didi between 2016 and 2018. He is a globally recognized expert in signal processing, AIOps, LLMs, and AI agents. He has authored over 50 research papers in top-tier conferences and journals and holds more than 10 patents. His contributions have been recognized with numerous prestigious awards, including Best Student Paper Award at the 2012 IEEE International Conference on Microwave and Millimeter Wave Technology, First Prize in the Student Paper Competition at the 2014 IEEE Benjamin Franklin Symposium on Microwave and Antenna Sub-systems, 2018 Young Author Best Paper Award from the IEEE Signal Processing Society, 2021 Best Paper Award from the European Association for Signal Processing, Distinguished Contribution Award at the 2021 Microsoft Machine Learning, AI, and Data Science Conference, Best Tech Transfers of the Year Award at Microsoft Research Asia, Team Award at Microsoft Asia-Pacific R&D. In 2022, he was elected as a Senior Member of IEEE.
